Position Summary:  

The Business Manager at The Westview School, under the direction of the Head of School, oversees the functions of accounting, audit, cash management, payroll, human resources, tax and compliance reporting, budgeting, and risk management.  

Responsibilities include the following: 

•    Management of the business office and financial aspects of The Westview School adhering to proper internal control procedures and safeguarding of assets.
•    Supervision of the accounts receivable system including subsidiary ledgers, receipt of payments, deposits to bank, billing records, and invoicing.
•    Supervision of the accounts payable system including purchase order and invoice approval, credit card reconciliation and payment, and all forms of payment.
•    Supervision of the monthly payroll processing.
•    Timely preparation of monthly reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial reports for management.
•    Assisting in preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets.
•    Working closely with the Director of Development to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation of donations.
•    Overseeing banking functions and relationships.
•    Overseeing benefits programs, annual open enrollment, and service provider relationships.
•    Overseeing risk management and relationship with insurance provider.
•    Development of accounting policies and procedures to ensure proper internal control and assist in development of general school policies in family and personnel handbooks as they relate to business office functions.
•    Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of accounting processes, GAAP, accounting software, labor laws, and general business law.
•    Overseeing annual audit, preparation of audit schedules, and interfacing with audit firm.
•    Manage preparation of annual Forms 990 and 5500.
•    Communicate issues and questions to Head of School in timely manner.
•    Support and promote the mission of The Westview School including attendance at school sponsored events throughout the year.
•    Positively reflect The Westview School’s vision, core values, and strategic plan.
•    Other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications: 

•    Bachelor’s degree required with minimum five years of financial management experience.
•    CPA certification preferred.
•    Experience in school environment preferred.
•    Experience in non-profit accounting preferred.
•    Experience with QuickBooks, ADP Payroll, Office 365, Word, Excel, FAST and Teams.
•    Ability to translate financial concepts to management, teaching staff and Board of Directors.
•    Knowledge and experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, GAAP financial statements, non-profit accounting, payroll, and benefits administration.
•    Ability to produce timely, detailed, and accurate work, coherent reconciliations, and financial reports and to maintain orderly comprehensive records.
•    Ability to write and speak effectively.
•    Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within set timelines.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 

•    Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and reach with hands and arms.
•    Occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
•    Duties require working indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time in various weather conditions and on various surfaces including grass, dirt, pavement, and concrete.
•    Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy packages up to 20 lbs.
