
Speech-Language Pathologist

About The Stewart Center
The Stewart Center at The Westview School is a therapeutic clinic serving children and families in the Houston community. The Center is located on the campus of The Westview School, a school for children on the autism spectrum. The Stewart Center is staffed by professionals with specialized training in supporting children with neurodevelopmental differences. Licensed therapists offer art therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and individual/family therapy.
Position Overview
The Stewart Center is looking for a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist who is passionate about working with children with autism and developmental challenges. The SLP will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide therapeutic services to students in a structured, supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing individual speech therapy, group therapy/social skills groups, and/or feeding therapy to children with autism.
Responsibilities
- Reviews individual files to obtain background information regarding clients prior to beginning therapy or assessment
- Evaluates and treats children between the chronological ages of 2-15 years with a primary diagnosis of autism and a secondary diagnosis of speech, language, and/or feeding disorders
- Leads social groups
- Provides teacher and classroom support and conducts trainings as needed
- Assists in clinical development procedures alongside team
- Adheres to basic scope of practice as outlined by Texas State Laws and American Speech-Language Hearing Association
- Collaborates with current speech therapists, classroom teachers, support specialists, and parents to integrate plans for at home and classroom programs
- Attends The Westview School staff meetings
- Attends student conferences as part of child’s therapeutic team
- Attends monthly Stewart Center meetings related to policy, case reviews, and budget
Qualifications
- Demonstrate leadership, oral and written skills for communication, initiative, innovation, responsiveness to client needs, interpersonal, teamwork, self-management, and adaptability skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech Therapy
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and current Texas and ASHA licenses
- Competency in offering evaluations and assessments
- School-based or pediatric experience
- Individual and social group therapy experience is a plus

Schedule
This is a contract position, with flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the students and the school.
Families are typically interested in sessions after school (2:00 PM – 4:30 PM).
